My bike is a Gary Fisher Simple City 8, which I modified slightly by removing the basket. The basket impedes lights, and lights are crucial for riding at night. The bike has fenders and an internal 8 speed hub. The best part is that it has rear roller brakes, although I realize this will impede my ability to fix a flat on the road. I'll write more about the lights I use in a later post.
As I crossed the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir, I spotted a bunch of Hooded Mergansers. They were spread along the causeway, on the north side of the road. There may have been more, but pedaling limits the ability to count diving ducks. Of course the people in the cars probably didn't even know they were crossing a reservoir.
The commute to work is so much different from a bike. My commutes are fun, I get exercise in, and I am in a happy mood when I get to work, and when I get home.
