Birding the Oradell Reservoir

Yesterday my honey and I had a very productive birding trip within (almost) sight of our house. We started out by the United Water buildings, and then wandered over to the back of HNH Fitness. My eBird postings follow.

Location:     Oradell Reservoir
Observation date:     12/19/10
Number of species:     8

American Black Duck     15
Mallard     70
Hooded Merganser     20
Common Merganser     50
Red-breasted Merganser     4
Ruddy Duck     8
Bald Eagle     7     Six on ice, adult alone far away.
American Coot     2

The Bald Eagles were very cool to see. We have them flying over our house in the summer, but to see this many on the ice was a real treat. Next time I will bring the scope and digital camera to provide you with a real treat.
